SLC – Day 1 overnight

Through the southern Nebraska night, pitch black save the waning moon off to our left.
Black hunched trees just far apart, silhouetted against the deep purple skies and stars, like shadows of great beasts shuffling west along the plains.
I tried to nap only to bounce my inner voice around my skull for about 20 minutes. Chatted for a bit, convinced Juliet to let me drive so she could nap and take the early morning leg. She fell almost immediately asleep, leaving me for about 2 hours while I listened to pastors, financial planners and UFOlogists through AM static.
For about 20 minutes a field of pulsing red lights off my port bow had me convinced I was looking at an airfield. But after an hour or so, having still not passed it, Juliet looked it up on the internet and found out it was a field of wind generators.
Juliet recalled the sun had set in front of us in Nebraska, it rose behind us in Wyoming.
